The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has requested all chambers of commerce and their federation and trade associations to voice the concerns of the micro to medium sector (MSME) as it is the majority sector and badly affected due to unfriendly and incorrect policies of the government.
Zulfikar Thaver president UNISAME has requested all trade leaders that they should speak for lessening the burden on the MSMEs and whenever they speak on any forum they need to voice the concerns of the MSME sector because majority of their members are SMEs and they are duty bound to voice their grievances.
Thaver said the SMEs are the worst affected and cannot bear any more burden. It is high time the government realizes that this is the majority sector and this is the backbone of the economy. It is the SMEs and farmers who have kept the ball rolling even during Covid and economic down turn due to inflation. They deserve the best attention of the government he said.
The UNISAME Council members lamented that the policy makers have not yet comprehended the dynamics and the potentiality of the SMEs and have not truly facilitated it.
They said the policy makers need to understand the basic requirements of the sector. The SME units need finance at affordable mark up, energy at affordable mark up, raw material imports under reasonable import duties, pay as you earn schemes for commercial properties and machinery. Also marketing and technical support from the government.
The sector is hopeful that the government will not burden the sector and not impose further taxes in the budget and make provisions for SME promotion and development on fast track basis.
