The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has expressed surprise on the statement of Senator, Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister ( Dy PM) Ishaq Dar about IMF not being inclined to give loan to Pakistan.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said in fact IMF is guiding Pakistan by giving good advice for our own good. However our team needs to negotiate by telling them what is possible and what is not possible.
By such statements the Dy PM has perturbed the business community and caused apprehensions amongst the institutions.
Thaver said “It seems that the country is on the edge of default and instead of increasing efforts and sharpening negotiations it is inappropriate to give such negative statements”.
Thaver said even the comments of Atif Mian the renowned economist as published in a leading daily newspaper are scary.
However Thaver said he spoke to another seasoned economist who has served the country in the past and who enabled a past loan and who expressed his positive opinion that success is possible and that the matter can be handled.
The UNISAME Council members have invited the kind attention of stakeholders to include a seasoned economist and have also suggested to the PM Shehbaz Sharif to take a seasoned economist like Dr Khaqan Hassan Najeeb on board for fruitful positive negotiations in the right direction rather than those who have doubts in their mind. It is believed he will agree to help for the love of the country and will deal appropriately with his experience with a positive outlook.
