The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) Council members gathered at a local club to honour women of the world who have made their countries and communities proud by their outstanding work in their respective fields.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver at the very outset said women are excellent managers and have proved themselves to be efficient in managing not only households, officers, stores, businesses, factories, educational institutions, clinics and hospitals but also governments and political parties. He saluted them for their remarkable work.
They are also playing a role in the judiciary on the bench and the bar both effectively with diligence and skill and we are very proud of them.
Thaver urged the government to recognize their true worth and give them their true status in society and frame laws to protect the shortcomings in inheritance, child marriage and forced marriage also maternity leave and medical care during pregnancy and child birth and also post delivery.
Thaver said that Islam has very clearly urged believers to respect women and has laws for womens’ rights in all aspects of marriage, nursing of child, divorce, dower and dowry and legal rights of maintenance but lamented that in villages and backward areas they are not fully observed and implemented.
The UNISAME Council members urged the government to do more for women and also urged the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to do more for women entrepreneurs and farmers.
