The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) appreciated the proposals, decisions and steps taken by the Ministry of Commerce (MINCOM) the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) the Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and the chairman Quality Review Committee (QRC) in the disbandment of the QRC.
It is reported that MINCOM vide letter no. 4(10)/2005 -E dated 30/05/14 informed the chairman QRC of its decision to disband the QRC and subsequently a meeting was convened on 11th June 2014 by chairman QRC Sher Afghan Khan who is also the director general (DG) TDAP which discussed the future course of action.
It is reported that rice trade would be carried out on the basis of the terms of agreement between buyers and sellers and services of independent pre shipment (PSI) agencies would be utilized instead of certificate by rice inspection cell (RIC).
Golden handshake to QRC/RIC employees was proposed and also setting up of rice research technical training institute from the remaining funds was discussed.
The DG requested REAP for the audit reports of the QRC funds from March 1999 to 31st December 2012
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver urged MINCOM not to repeat past mistakes and ensure that in the new mechanisms and systems of registration and data collection, the names of the buyers, their addresses, shipping marks, prices and business secrets are not disclosed otherwise the system would be defective and not acceptable to all.
