UNISAME PROPOSES GOLDEN HANDSHAKE FOR QRC STAFF & INSTITUTE FOR TRAINING

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises has invited the attention of Sher Afghan, Director General (DG) Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Lahore who by virtue of his position as DG is also chairman of the Quality Review Committee (QRC) to positively give golden handshake and endowments to QRC personnel at the time of closure of QRC and subsequently termination of its staff to enable them retire gracefully and utilize remaining QRC funds for betterment of rice industry

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said in view of the firm decision of the ministry of commerce (MINCOM) to close QRC conveyed in writing to DG TDAP It is now apparent that QRC is likely to be closed by the end of June 2014.

Thaver urged the DG TDAP to ensure golden handshake for fair termination of services of QRC staff.
Secondly recommended that the funds of about 20 millions lying with Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP) and also a huge amount with TDAP itself be utilized for setting up of an institute for training rice evaluators for the benefit of the rice industry.

The QRC staff could also be absorbed in the proposed institute to train the students at the institute he added.

He said MINCOM has decided wisely to close QRC and thanked MINCOM for placing trust on rice exporters and giving them free hand by removing the hurdle and giving the rice exporters an opportunity to promote their brands and meet global challenges and shoulder responsibility.

UNISAME has urged the SME rice exporters to maintain standards and keep high bench mark to popularize their brands and to prove that they have their own quality control systems in their units to the federal minister commerce Engineer Khurram Dastagir who has accepted their demand to close QRC.
