UNISAME FELICITATES LEILA KHAN ON BEING DESIGNATED FOR CHAIRPERSON PMYP

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) felicitated Leila Khan on being designated by the Prime Minister (PM) Muhammad Nawaz Sharif as the chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP).

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver on behalf of himself and UNISAME felicitated Leila Khan member of National Assembly and adviser to PM on youth affairs on her being designated as chairperson PMYP and assured her of full support in her endeavours to promote the youth of Pakistan.

Thaver said we are confident that with her experience and passion for youth promotion she will bring about important changes to facilitate youth entrepreneurship just like her predecessor Maryam Nawaz Sharif who was undoubtedly dedicated and had a vision but due to lack of proper process in her appointment resigned as per the desire of the honourable court in good grace.

He requested her to broaden the scope of the programme to finance every youth who has a sound plan and prefers to do business rather than service.

He urged her to set up incubation centres to train the youth to do business and also called upon the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to lend her full support in her endeavours for youth promotion and development.

Thaver stressed on the need of the PMYP to accommodate the youth who are not lucky in the ballot although they have sound business plan and remain dejected as the PMYP has earmarked limited funds to finance only those whose names are successful in the ballot.

The government needs to impress upon the commercial banks to finance the youth and come up with products for youth financing and urged SMEDA to prepare feasibility for small sized units for the new entrants amongst the youth.
