UNISAME CELEBRATES WORLD ENTREPRENEUR’S DAY & SENDS GREETINGS TO ENTREPRENEURS

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) gathered at a local club on 21st August 2017 to celebrate the World Entrepreneur’s Day and honour the entrepreneurs who believe in self employment and take risk and set up their own business with dedication.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said that there is nothing like your own business and working for yourself and being your own boss. Of course your customer becomes your boss because customer satisfaction is the key to success of business.
He said UNISAME has always promoted self employment and entrepreneurship. With hard work and focus one can achieve and overcome the challenges a new business faces. The teething problems are there but the benefits are attractive. If one realizes that there is dignity in labour and does not mind working for ones own small business and devotes time and energy, the business is sure to grow.
Thaver urged Sher Ayub, the chief executive officer of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to promote the new entrants and facilitate them with one window and also offer incubation services to train and educate them in the workings of small business.
The Union chief urged the CEO SMEDA to impress upon the government to offer land at concession to the entrepreneurs as land has become very expensive.
He advised the setting up of ” Pay As You Earn Scheme ” and commercial property leasing for lease of shops,offices, workshops and factories and also income generating vehicles. The entrepreneurs need finance at affordable mark up and ofcourse access to finance. Finance from commercial banks is now affordable but microfinance is still very costly he said.
The most important requirement is credit insurance for crops, poultry, cattle and exports.
The entrepreneurs need technical, marketing and logistics support.
Thaver reiterated that the sector needs an SME chamber of commerce, an export bureau, a technical institute and last but not the least a strong SMEDA which could cater and out reach all the entrepreneurs.
Thaver lamented that the value addition sector remained devoid of encouragement, support, facilities and motivation. All recommendations given by the Union are well received and appreciated but implementation is missing. The government remains busy in its political turmoils neglecting the micro to medium sized sector and the entrepreneurs involved in the primary to the tertiary sectors not realizing that they are the engine of growth and the vehicle for employment.
