KARACHI – Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (Unisame) has advised it’s SME members to install solar systems to overcome power crisis and have uninterrupted supplies of energy.
President Unisame Zulfikar Thaver said the union has had series of meetings with energy prominent solution companies namely Reon, Orient Energy, Nizam Energy and Adaptive Technologies and has set up an energy solution and facilitation centre with the support of Small Medium Industrial Leasing Estates (SMILE) an SME facilitation company.
Thaver said it is very necessary that the SME units resort to solar energy as it is expected that the electric supply companies will not be able to meet the demands of the sector for uninterrupted supplies and the outages will cause loss of production and the units would not be able to achieve productivity.
The mere promises of the authorities have badly affected production and cost of production and it is very doubtful that the promises to achieve sufficiency would be achieved even in the coming years. The whole world is promoting clean energy and many have subsidised the promotion in many forms. The national grids have in fact purchased at higher rates and sold to subscribers at lower rates with open grids systems. Thaver said it is high time the government takes solar promotion seriously for farms, houses, offices and factories and facilitates solar installations.
Speaking on the occasion Usama Aslam, a solar power plant specialist and member National Energy Council endorsed the advise of the union chief to SMEs and recommended solar solutions to SMEs.
Shaaf Mehboob another expert and member of International Solar Energy Society (ISES) of Germany offered full support and help for SMEs and particularly to Unisame members.
