SMEs WELCOME HAMMAD AS CHAIRMAN SMEDA…The Financial Daily 11/04/2020

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has felicitated Hammad Azhar on his appointment as federal minister industries and production and expressed joy and satisfaction on his well deserved appointment.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the Union is very happy that a person having very good financial background and who knows economics and law both has been given the portfolio of the ministry of industries and production and by virtue of this portfolio also becomes the chairman of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA).
Thaver said the Union is pleased to assure him of its best co-operation and is confident Hammad Azhar will leave no stone upturned to uplift the sector on fast track once the Corona virus subsides.
UNISAME experts have urged the federal minister to declare the SME policy which is ready and completed and simply awaiting approval of the federal cabinet.
UNISAME experts have also urged SMEDA Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to invite multinational companies to work hand in hand with SMEDA and offer their corporate social responsibility funds for uplift of the sector under SMEDA’s guidance.
UNISAME Council expressed deep regret on the statements of some trade leaders that they would not be in a position to pay wages to their workers on continuation of lock down and said this is unfair. It is the right of the workers to get wages for the lock down period and it is the duty of the factory owners to pay the wages to the workers and labourers as per the factories act and labour laws and besides it is the moral duty of the factory owners who need to look after and support the under privileged sector.
