SMEDA, UNDP join forces to initiate new project

KARACHI : The Small & Medium Enterprise Development Authority (SMEDA) in collaboration with United Nation Development Programme (UNDP), has initiated a project Supporting Pro-Poor Governance for Legal Empowerment of the Poor (Right to do Business) .
Under the project, a draft study on “Review of Laws and Regulations affecting Marginalized Businesses has been prepared by the consultants. This study explains about the assignment background, scope of work and the relevant segments of laws and regulations affecting the marginalized business of the Pakistan and two comparable economies (ie Bangladesh and India) in each.
On the basis of findings and learning of the consultant, SMEDA plans to support the marginalized businesses in the Sindh province. A consultative workshop is being organized to share, deliberate and review the said study tomorrow the 17th April 2013 at a local hotel.
President Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) Zulfikar Thaver appreciated the efforts of the UNDP and SMEDA to support the marginalized sector and empowering them to acquaint them well of their right to do business and said that the study of the two comparable economies would be enlightening for the stakeholders.
