SME Farmers, Processors And Exporters Urge Razzak Dawood To Allow Exports Of Khashkhash And Gur

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has appreciated the recommendations of the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (SMEDA) for allowing export of Khashkhash and Jaggery and also thanked the Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) for issuing /releasing Standard for both the commodities. UNISAME also expressed thanks to Lahore High Court for permitting production of Gur and raw sugar without any restrain from provincial and federal governments.

UNISAME Council invited the attention of Razzak Dawood adviser on commerce to prime minister Imran Khan to his agenda to create export culture and urged him to allow export of both the commodities now that both the commodities have acquired PSQCA standards and have good export potential.

UNISAME president Zulfikar Thaver said the PSQCA has declared white food grade poppy seeds (Khashkhash) as food and food ingredient and has removed the stigma.

Thaver said export of both the commodities will earn valuable foreign exchange and benefit the SME farmers, processors and exporters.

He said SMEDA has recommended export of both the commodities and has also recommended modernization facilities for Gur production.
