SEPARATE MINISTRY DEMANDED FOR MSME SECTOR….PPI

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has urged the prime minister (PM) to set up a separate ministry for the promotion and development of the micro to medium sized sector (MSME) which can cover every aspect of the majority sector comprehensively from grass root level and focus on the requirements of the entire supply chain from the farms to exports with value addition at every level as is done in advanced countries of the world.
UNISAME experts have urged PM to take serious uplift measures for MSME majority sector which is under privileged without loss of time.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the MSME sector needs undivided attention and management by experts. MSME uplift, up gradation and development is not everybody’s cup of tea. It is the job of experts as it involves poverty alleviation, employment, training, skill development, marketing and technical support.
Secondly the union also recommended making of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority into a financial institution as well by merging the SME Bank with it and changing its scope of being merely a consultative body to that of a full fledged SME promotion and development institution.
Thirdly UNISAME advocated the making of SME chambers of commerce in every city and linking it with SME federation of commerce and industry.
Thaver said these are very essential high impact steps for uplift of the under privileged sector and for making it join the mainstream for progress and growth rather than stagnating under institutions not fully equipped with men, money and material as per rules of management, administration and governance.
