The NCSMEs has an important role to play and has the federal and provincial secretaries of finance, commerce, industry, planning and also the governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) along with private sector representatives.

The presidents of important chambers of commerce and industry and SME associations are also its members.

The NCSMEs has strong terms of reference for framing and designing SME policy for the sector based on modernization and uplift of the sector with technical education, facilitation and boosting the sector by encouragement and motivation.

The SME sector deserves the best attention of the policy makers and it is hoped that the incoming government will appoint a high calibre person as minister for industries under whom the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the NCSMEs will function.
