The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has invited the attention of the Pakistan Standard Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and the reputable battery manufacturers to the counterfeits being sold in the market by units indulging in copying reputable brands.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said it is a matter of serious concern that battery dealers are patronizing counterfeits manufacturers and cheating the consumers.
Secondly the battery dealers are also buying old expired batteries and selling them to counterfeits manufacturers who repair them and sell them again as new batteries using the case of the popular brands of batteries.
Thaver said this is damaging the name and brand image and the reputable companies must take note of this and also PSQCA must raid the outlets and inspect the battery shops to discourage such counterfeiting and trespassing urgently.
The consumers are suffering and being cheated.
Thaver also called upon the Consumers Association of Pakistan to this malpractice.
