The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has requested Prof Ahsan Iqbal federal minister planning and development and special initiatives to change the theme of the “Turnaround Pakistan Conference” to be held on 28th June 2022 in Islamabad and rename it “Rapid Economic Recovery Conference” and deliberate on it seriously with rapid implementation steps.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the main issue is the rapid recovery and high impact steps to be taken to save the economic turmoil and foreign exchange crisis facing the country. An export more programme is the need of the hour and a thorough study of which items can be exported where as our exports definitely need to be increased. It is indeed unfortunate that the Unisame’s suggestions for adding items to the export list were given a deaf ear.
Thaver said we need to talk about this rather than dwelve on far fetched matters. The high inflation coming in waves every single day has left all in doldrums and the under privileged and the middle class are in a fix as their survival has become difficult so at this point of time we have to do fire fighting and leave all future plans for next year until IMF loan is obtained and things stabilize.
UNISAME Council members advised the planning minister to do the needful on war footings to ensure first food stability by initiating grow more programmes secondly to promote dairy farming, livestock and fisheries to improve supply position of basic food items.
The other very important steps are required to put solar energy solutions on fast track to make sure the alternate energy is exploited fully.
Last but not the least is fuel for various purposes and for this our coal resources must be tapped without loss of time.
UNISAME Council members also insisted on complete austerity in letter and spirit and also urged the government to declare emergency and propagate to save money , food, electricity and fuel. Every penny matters and all wastage needs to controlled immediately without loss of time.
