The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) managing committee for the benefit of the SME voters and their family members and also their friends and trade circles has developed a check list based on merit and consideration of education, family background, integrity, agenda of the candidate and the manifesto of the political party backing the candidate.
The SME leaders in a meeting at a local club decided amongst themselves that the country needs elected representatives who are educated, honest and are sincere and capable of bringing about change in the prevailing systems which have miserably failed due to corrupt leaderships.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the union committee is of the firm view that it is very important that the voters select, vote and support candidates for provincial assembly and national assembly only candidates who are worthy of their votes and are persons of high integrity, educated and good family background.
The union committee stated that the elections of 2013 are crucial and are capable of changing the destiny of the country if correct and proper votes are cast in favour of deserving candidates. The country cannot afford to have representatives lacking education, experience, agenda and definitely needs elected representatives of high calibre. The SMEs engaged in farming, trading, services and manufacturing are looking forward to a dynamic government which can exploit the resources and bring about economic growth and promote social welfare.
They said it is very essential that if the candidate is seeking re-election then the SME voters need to check the performance of the candidate during previous term. If contesting for the first time due consideration be given to the agenda of the party and if an independent candidate then attention must be given to the candidates plans for bringing about changes and improvements to the existing systems.
The SME voters have decided to scrutinize the candidates and not be impressed with hollow promises and only vote for candidates who have satisfied them with solutions and answers to the existing problems of corruption, inflation, lawlessness, energy crisis, absence of accountability and above all no agenda for social services and economic growth.
The union considers it its duty to guide the SME voters to vote with discretion as a wrong decision to vote for undeserving candidates without evaluation will prove harmful and cause irreparable loss to the constituency.
The union sympathizes with the voters who are given false hopes and false promises and being intellectually insulted by make belief stories and has warned the candidates and parties that they cannot fool all the people all the time. The candidates are warned to refrain from deceiving the voters as times have changed and they will have to pay heavily for deception.
The union has warned the candidates that there is growing awareness and the voters will not spare the candidates and will surely demand fulfillment of promises and implementation of agenda from the elected.
