Capacity building of the small to medium sized enterprises is crucial to the promotion and development of the sector and has been rightly placed on priority by the National Finance Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) said Zulfikar Thaver president of the Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME).
Thaver said skill development , modernization, transfer of technology, up gradation, marketing support, education on productivity and financial support will go a long way in the capacity building of the majority sector and the NFIS agenda is clear on the subject and our working group will work in that direction.
The secretariat of NFIS technical committee on SME finance has informed Zulfikar Thaver the chairperson of the working group to hold its first meeting to deliberate on the action plan under the NFIS and prioritize key actions identified in the NFIS and devise strategies for their execution with clear time lines.
The working group on capacity building has also been requested to assign roles and responsibilities for key actions and discuss resource requirements for key actions.
The other members of the working group are senior officials of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) , the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), the Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Bank AlFalah, Allied Bank of Pakistan, First Women Bank and the IFC by invitation.
Thaver said our working group is all geared up and have an agenda to develop the best recommendations and we are fortunate to have with us experienced officials of SBP, SMEDA, SECP, IFC and leading commercial banks
