KARACHI : The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) stressed the need for the business community to only vote for candidates who are honest, educated, sincere and have an agenda for economic development of the country, health care and compulsory education programme for the under privileged sector of the society.

It is very important that the citizens exercise their right to vote and vote for the best candidate on merit without undue influence or pressure from any quarter. President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the SMEs have suffered the most due to bad policies and business and industry suffered losses due to high cost of production, energy crisis, law and order, extortion, kidnapping and gangsterism but now expressed satisfaction that the business community is united and have decided to vote for candidates with zeal to improve the prevailing conditions.

He stressed the need for a strong accountability for all and urged the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to ensure accountability for all at all levels and not to spare anybody and carry out its functions without fear or favour and also advised the citizens to inform the NAB of any corruption witnessed in any department.

He said the citizens are now aware and have understood the false promises of the politicians, the corrupt practices and the huge burden of expenses of the government and the setback to development work because of huge amounts siphoned out of the country. It is imperative that the country needs honest leaders and the citizens must avail this opportunity to select
their right representatives.

Thaver urged NAB to place the names of leaders and officials against whom cases are pending on the exit control list as it is apprehended that they will escape immediately after the elections. The union has informed all its members, volunteers, patrons and well wishers to exercise their right of vote and vote after careful consideration of merit of the candidate and also support the honest candidates in their constituency.
