ALAMGIR APPOINTED CEO SMEDA FOR INTERIM PERIOD

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has felicitated Chaudhry Muhammad Alamgir on his well deserved appointment as chief executive officer (CEO) of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) for the interim period as per a notification issued today.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver on behalf of himself and UNISAME congratulated Ch Muhammad. Alamgir and expressed best wishes on his well deserved appointment and assured him full support in his endeavours.
Thaver appreciated the fact that the ministry wisely decided to install its own general manager rather than bring in a bureaucrat not knowing much about the promotion and development of the sector. SME promotion and devlopement is indeed a very special subject and it should not be assigned to a non conversant officer. It is expected that after a period of 3 months a permanent CEO will be appointed from amongst the few interviewed by the selection committee. The SMEDA board of directors is also being reconstituted and it is expected that it will comprise of experts in the subject.
He said Alamgir has gathered a lot of experience and has worked in different capacities in SMEDA as its provincial chief and as its general manager and the union is confident he would energize SMEDA and put in his very best to reach the SMEs, plan for their uplift and help in formulation of best facilities for the sector.
Thaver said Alamgir has done his masters in mechanical engineering from UET Lahore and advance diploma in business management from U.K. and also attended number of training programmes from the worlds leading institutions in U.K,Switzerland,Australia, Japan and Singapore and has been with SMEDA since 2001.
UNISAME has offered best wishes for his success and high achievements for the cause of the sector which has big potentialities.
