SMEs ADVISED TO AVAIL TDAP ONLINE REGISTRATION

Mar 28, 2014 |

The Union of Small and Mediium Enterprises (UNISAME) has advised SME exporters of fruits, vegetables, foodstuffs, flowers, meat, poultry, fish, maize, rice, wheat flour to register themselves with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) online and also avail the facility of their news letter.
UNISAME president Zulfikar Thaver said we have urged the ministry of commerce (MOC) to accept the membership of the respective Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CC&I) as valid registration and sufficient and not insist on registration with trade associations as some do not exist and some are disfunctional and some are charging exorbitant fees without offering matching services in return.
The MOC needs to recognise membership of CC&I as valid and sufficient for the purpose of monitoring as outlined in the Strategic Trade Policy Framework
( STPF) 2012-15 and not patronize and favour trade associations who are taking advantage of the mandatory clause and demanding exorbitant fees for membership unlike CC&I which has fixed only Rs 2100 from members which is affordable and the services offered by CC&I are much better.
He said the CC&I membership and certicates are recognized all over the world and it is ironic and irrational that our MOC does not consider it as sufficient and compelling exporters to seek registration with highly politicized trade associations who are simply bent upon socializing at members expense.
The membership must be made voluntary and those exporters consider their membership worthwhile may become members.
Forcing exporters to register with trade associations is unfair and without rationale and unwise he reiterated.
