The Financial Daily 29/8/24
The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) whilst appreciating and welcoming earnest efforts of prime minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has invited his immediate attention to the lack of co-ordination between the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and other institutions involved in SME promotion and development and urged him to direct SMEDA to improve its co-ordination with the State Bank of Pakistan, Trade Development Authority of Pakistan, Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research and the Federal Board of Revenue for friendly and positive results and facilities for the sector based on genuine requirements for ease of doing business.
Secondly SMEDA needs to fulfill its holistic role as an authority and needs to have a legal aid, arbitration and liaison committee to offer best hand holding facilities to the entrepreneurs.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the UNISAME Council members having expertise in legal matters, finance, information technology, marketing, engineering, management, human resources, product upgrading consultancy and reviving sick units are available for voluntary services and SMEDA is welcome to contact the Union for their honorary services in the best interest of the sector.
Thaver said since the Union Council has in its fold experts from different segments, it is in a position to connect SMEDA because of its excellent relations and ties with them and would be pleased to be of service to the sector.
