CLOSURE OF BAKERIES AND SMALL RESTAURANTS HARSH UNWISE DECISION

Apr 6, 2020 |

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has invited the attention of Syed Murad Ali Shah chief minister (CM) Sindh to the harsh and unwise decision of the policy makers to close bakeries and small restaurants and deprive the common man of bread and other items for breakfast and other meals.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said the aggrieved SME bakers contacted the Union and said besides being badly affected by the closure of their small to medium sized bakery units they were more perturbed and concerned about their daily customers who were totally dependent on them for their breakfast items as they did not have the facility of making breakfast at home.
UNISAME experts were informed that a major percentage of the under privileged do not make morning breakfast at home and purchase breakfast items from bakeries and outlets where they get affordable bread, butter, halwa puri, grams with little gravy and such items by which they are able to begin the day and fill their stomach to avoid hunger and be ready for work. Most of them do not have the facility to make breakfast at home. Some do not have parents or have old parents who are unable to prepare breakfast items.
UNISAME has urged the CM to consider their requirements earnestly and sympathetically and allow bakeries and small restaurants to cater to the masses to enable the marginalized sector to survive.
