SMEDA URGES UNISAME TO FURNISH PROPOSALS…The Financial Daily 03/02/2020

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has been asked by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) to furnish recommendations and proposals for the budget 2020.
In this connection UNISAME has convened a meeting of its committee in a private club on 5th February 2020 to obtain experts proposals on the subject.
President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said Ms Nadia Jahangir Seth the general manager of SMEDA has asked for recommendations on fiscal, tariff, access to finance, skill development, technology, infrastructure, domestic market access and trade facilitation measures and has requested UNISAME to send proposals for onward transmission to the ministry of industries and production, commerce and finance.
UNISAME has invited Abdul Azeem Uqaili CEO of SZEMC and Mukesh Kumar Sindh provincial chief SMEDA and SME experts in finance, trade and industry to enable submission of proposals to SMEDA which is a bridge between the sector and the government.
Chaudhry Azhar convener policy and planning, Yousuf Yaqoob convener SEZ committee, and SME experts namely Ali Raza Namdar, Shoaib Shamim, Jawed Amersy, Zafar Abbas, Shaukat Ali, Sajid Naqvi, Junaid Naqi, Raymond Alfrey, Asif Hayat will highlight the issues and requirements of the sector regarding affordable finance, energy, duties on raw material , high cost of production, multiple taxes, marketing support and ease of doing business.
The SMEs need special facilities, incentives and plots at concessions and easy payment terms in the SEZ Dhabejji and other SEZs which are planned in the country.
The SEZMC and UNISAME could jointly work for transfer of technology, joint ventures, collaboration and partnerships under CPEC for SME units said Chaudhry Azhar who offered his services towards the cause of the sector.
