TDAP Urged To Make Concerted Efforts In Latin American Countries

The Union of Small and Medium Enterprises (UNISAME) has invited the immediate attention of Tariq Iqbal Puri Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to the over looking of an important region, filled with trade opportunities and having big markets and stable economies and urged him to focus with concerted efforts on Latin American countries (LAC) for the promotion of Pakistani merchandise professionally.

Considering the promising aspects for bilateral trade with LAC NISAME under the patronage of Pakistan’s Ambassador in Chile Burhanul Islam has made plans to revive the Pakistan Business Councils (PBC) for LAC namely Chile,Colombia, Brazil,Mexico,Caribbean Islands, Costa Rica,Cuba, Dominican Republic, Argentina,Ecuador,Bolivia,Venezuela and others with the help and support of Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) on priority basis.

Ambassador Burhanul Islam has expressed his keen desire to promote bilateral trade with LAC and has requested UNISAME to offer Pakistani goods for the importers.

The FPCCI has informed UNISAME that the PBCs for LAC are dormant and has offered help and support to revive the PBCs.

The Pakistan’ embassy in Chile has sent inquiries for rice, spices,mineral water, textiles to UNISAME and has requested the Pakistani exporters to visit the LAC and promote business with the help of Pakistani missions in the LAC.

President UNISAME Zulfikar Thaver said he is particularly interested in SMEs exploring the markets for value added rice, maize, spices, foodstuffs, textiles and garments and urged the SMEs to look into the possibility of exporting their products to LAC and on the other hand of importing technology for manufacturing equipments, plants and machinery.

He said some of the LAC especially Brazil, Argentina and Colombia are well versed in light engineering industries and would be glad to share technology for mutual benefit and Pakistani SME units can take advantage and benefit in their respective fields.
